Chairman's Christmas Message

Dear Member

A wide variety of subjects has filled this year. The much talked about Mosaic has involved a host of people giving many hours to help represent our National Lottery bid. Community involvement is a key requisite and contributions to enable us to show how involved they are and will be has been special. We very much hope that a grant will be made with our second attempt (even Canterbury Cathedral went down the same road to replace the chancel windows). A book about the Mosaic and many aspects of Kettering’s community life, history and participation will be written as part of the Community Involvement.

This summer, a special four day trip to Scotland took a party of our members around the Glasgow area with an interest in Charles Rene Mackintosh’s work. Further afield we called at Dumfries House and Drumlanrig Castle where the Duke of Buccleuch provided coffee. Tours around both properties and seeing first hand Prince Charles contribution had had were both special and delightful. Based upon the success of this tour, it is planned to arrange another one to include Northumberland including Alnwick Castle.

Our Proms trip was most enjoyable and will be repeated next year. There have been Coffee Mornings at Toller Church, regular watch on Planning matters and attendance at Council Meetings including the Kettering Town Forum. We played an important part in protecting the Buccleuch Hotel in Stamford Road.

Member’s ideas and concerns are always welcome and monthly Committee meetings take them on board.

2015 has an interesting range of outings and functions for which the Society welcome both renewal of your membership and new members.

We now wish you a Happy Christmas and New Year.

Yours sincerely,

Paul Ansell
(Chairman)

2015 Membership

Your membership is greatly valued, as are your thoughts and ideas. Membership fees support the publication of newsletters, administration and Blue Plaques.
